Description

As a ceramist and designer, I develop work that is closely linked to the earth, mineral materials, and their transformation.
The name of my studio, Mona Céramics, was inspired by the affectionate nickname my granddaughter gives me, and reflects values that are essential to me: transmission, simplicity, and authenticity. After an initial career in graphic design and communications, I wanted to devote myself fully to ceramics and trained at a school preparing students for the CAP (Certificate of Professional Competence) in ceramic throwing. This training enabled me to master the basic techniques and develop a direct, physical relationship with the clay, from shaping to firing. I mainly work with sandstone, a robust clay that I shape on a potter's wheel and fire at high temperatures to ensure strength, durability, and quality of use. My workshop and shop, located in Bogève in a natural setting, is both a place of creation and a space open to the public (by appointment only). It offers the opportunity to discover my world, observe the different stages of working with clay, and discover a selection of functional and decorative pieces made on site. I create unique pieces and small series, designed for everyday use where function guides form. I also offer custom work for individuals and professionals, adapting dimensions, shapes, and finishes to the technical requirements of clay and firing. During the season, I also attend local markets, which are real places of exchange where I share my expertise, meet the public, and discuss my work. Through this work, I am part of a local and sustainable craft approach, promoting handmade products, the time taken to make them, and a sincere and sensitive relationship with the material.
